“My art expresses the hidden side of the SAPE, in particular through my childish and innocent graphics, as if ‘la Sape “ were child’s play in which the sappers are engaged. The latter being capable of the worst extremes during their clothing « hostilities » whilst spending more than 99.99% of their income!
la SAPE is at the heart of the life of young people in my neighborhood in Kinshasa, and as a social phenomenon, LA  SAPE has a considerable influence on Kinshasa’s youth. This is the Reason why I started to paint this phenomenon . So my painting is a brushed fresco, not without a touch of cynicism regarding Kinshasa’s contemporary society ”, explains Dolet Malalu
